It's my favorite time of year, FALL! I seriously love the colors of the changing leaves and the sound of them crunching under my feet LOL. Plaid flannels are very popular this season (& every other season) and it's definitely a must have in every person's closet! This red plaid flannel is very versatile, you can wear it with a casual outfit or pair it with a skirt and thigh highs for a more chic look. I went with a rugged look here and I paired this "DOPE" tee that I cut, with faux leather leggings, a red flannel I thrifted and white Converse.
I love this outfit because its the perfect mixture of chic and casual. The leather leggings added the perfect amount of contrast against the rugged shoes and shirt. I kept it simple with accessories, and threw on two spiked bracelets, a vintage Winnie the Pooh watch, a double-finger ring, gold earrings, and my gold multi-chain necklace. I put my hair in a high ponytail because it was super windy and it kept the focus on the outfit rather than my hair. Last but not least, I wore my large lens glasses because 1. I'm blind and I can't see without them and 2. They pulled the whole look together.

Student Fashion Society

As some of you may know, I am the Public Relations Chair for the Student Fashion Society at my school. I wanted to share this flyer I made for the club with you guys. The theme of the year is VOGUE so I created a VOGUE inspired magazine cover introducing the club and the events we will be holding this year.

We have three large events planned this semester, which are a Halloween Costume party, a Dress for Success Fashion Show, and a Looks for Less Fashion Show. The Halloween Costume party is set for the end of October and we will hold a contest for Most Creative Costume and Most Creative Makeup. I can't wait to see what the members have ins tore for us! We are collaborating with the Career Development Center for the Dress for Success Fashion Show to show students that it's possible to look fashionable when dressing professional. The Looks for Less Fashion Show consists of stylists recreating celebrity looks at an affordable price, or even with clothes they already have in their own closet.
I can't wait to see how the events turn out and I will definitely be doing some posts on them to let you guys know how they went!(:

I am a firm believer that everyone is born with a purpose. I feel that my purpose is to make a difference in the world, one way or another. Part of making a difference means standing out and just being different. Anyone who knows me knows what a weirdo I am, so when I saw this "NORMAL IS BORING" crop top in F21 I had to have it! When I stumbled upon this top I was actually searching for a cute maxi skirt. I thought this forest green one would go perfectly with the top and it was a perfect transition color to bridge the gap between the Summer and Fall season. This tan fedora was a perfect addition to the outfit in every way. The color is a perfect neutral to keep with the earth tone theme I had going on here, plus fedoras look super cute with maxi skirts! I spiced up the outfit a bit with my spiked Lita's. The skirt was a little long on me, so the shoes gave me enough height to avoid stepping on the bottom of the skirt when I walk.

I take pride in being a weirdo. I think the best part of being human is the fact that we are all different. I love to learn about people and why they are the way they are. Too many people try to fit in or "join the wave" so I really appreciate a person who is true to themself. You'd be surprised how much better you feel when you wear what YOU like, and do what YOU want. For a while, I had trouble finding myself. I was never thin or tall, and I always got picked on and called a "midget" my whole life. Once I learned to just love my body and not let other people's opinions affect me, I became much more happy. I learned to let my personality show through my style and I stopped caring what other people thought about me. Always stay true to yourself!

It breaks my heart to throw out old clothes, so I invent new ways to wear them instead! I outgrew one of my dresses and cut it into two separate shirts. This outfit will show you how I styled the bottom half of the dress. Hope you like!(:

Shirt: (originally a dress) f21 | Mesh pants: American Apparel | Sandals: (shop similar) f21 | Bag & Accessories: f21

So I got these mesh pants on sale at American Apparel and I planned to wear them to the beach, over my bathing suit. I wanted to figure out another way to put them to use so I just threw on some dark spankies under them and paired them with sandals and a cute tube top. Mesh fabric is perfect for the summer, it's very breathable and lightweight.

I made this top out of a dress I outgrew from f21. All I did was cut the dress straight across the waistline and I now have this tube top and a cute tank crop top. I scrunched the middle of the top together and pinned it together with a safety pin to create a cute sweetheart neckline. I loved the way this yellow bag contrasted with the maroon color of the pants.

P.S. Look out for my clothing line, items will be dropping soon! Comment below if you have any suggestions of items you'd like to see (:

Quote of the Day

It's been a while since I've done one of these. This quote by my inspiration, Marilyn Monroe, is a lot deeper than it seems. What Marilyn Monroe was trying to say is that a confident woman can achieve ANYTHING! Believe in yourself and you will go far.

To go a little deeper . . .
Confidence comes from within, and you will never be happy if you wait for outside influences to boost your self-esteem. Don't let the media and society brainwash you into believing that beauty is 6'0 tall and  as thin as a toothpick. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, so embrace yourself FLAWS AND ALL.

Fashion Tip: Don't try to squeeze into something just because it looks nice on someone else. You'll be surprised how happy you are when you wear something that compliments YOUR body.

So, throw on your cutest pair of heels, gloss your lips, and start conquering! (:

Happy Thursday everyone! Here's a cute, trendy outfit idea for the weekend.

Top & Skirt: Love Culture | Sandals & Bag: Forever 21

First, short skirts were in, then it was maxi skirts, now asymmetric hemlines have made their way into mainstream fashion. Inspired by runway looks seen at SS13 Fashion Week, this design is the perfect addition to a summer outfit. There are a bunch of different varieties ranging from casual to couture, I went for a more casual look with my asymmetrical skirt. I paired it with a red cut-out crop top, another new trend inspired by the runway. Cut-outs offer the perfect amount of sex appeal without showing too much skin. They're fun and affordable, definitely a must have this Summer season!

Pair a beanie with your favorite maxi skirt for a laidback, yet girly look. This happens to be one of my FAVORITE looks. I just love the sporty twist that the beanie adds to the outfit. Of course, finish it up with round sunnies and you're good to go!

Hey loves! So today's outfit post is a bit funky. My motivation in choosing my outfits is how I'm feeling that day. This outfit was a result of me feeling really bold, fun, and not to mention HOT! I hope you guys enjoy!(:

Scarf: (shop similar) Etsy | Bustier: Joyce Leslie | Necklaces: Love Culture | Pants: Buffalo Exchange | Spiked Litas: Solestruck | Bag: F21

Today was one of those days where I felt like wearing a really bold and bossy outfit. This outfit is perfect for a concert/festival, I wouldn't wear it otherwise because just like there's a time and place for everything, there are certain outfits that aren't appropriate for certain situations. You are a brand, and your image is your selling point. You want people to respect you so you must be aware of what your appearance says about you.
Now on to the outfit, I love love love these pants! They're super comfy and definitely flashy. I paired them with a black bustier and threw a lightweight fringe scarf over it to cover up some skin. These spiked Lita's gave this outfit a very edgy look. My accessories tied this look together. I paired my BOSS chain with my triangle chain to add some spark to my mid-section. Of course, I couldn't forget my favorite ring, the double-fingered cross, my pyramid earrings, my black watch and gold bangles. These round sunnies finished off the look and gave it the perfect amount of "laid-back"ness.

I would like to end this post by encouraging you to think outside of the box when styling your outfits/shopping. Pick out something that catches your eye and have fun with it! Whether it's casual or funky like my pants here, rock them LIKE A BO$$.

Stay Dope,
Brittany Jade
