WHAT SHOULD YOU WEAR?

Tuesday, October 20, 2015

Hey Guys! So I made this graphic a while ago and never remembered to share it with you. It was actually an assignment in one of my graphic design classes. I had to create an infographic on any topic of my choice, so I chose to incorporate fashion and make an informative cheat sheet to dressing for your body type.

I always hear females complain that they want to dress nicer but can't because of (insert body part they don't like). It's so important to realize the body shape you have and learn how to dress so you can emphasize certain parts of your body and take the attention away from the parts you don't want to be noticed as much. We all have different shapes and we're all different sizes, no specific one is better than the other and we all need to learn to love our bodies, despite what the media makes us believe is "beautiful."
It all comes down to creating balance; if you are top-heavy, you want to wear something that emphasizes your bottom half. For example, printed pants or a flare skirt. If you have a rounder shape, try clothes that cinch at the waist to give you that hourglass effect. This cheat sheet I made is pretty simple and to the point. At the top, I have laid out the six main body shapes that we refer to in the fashion industry. Identify which one is most like your body, then locate that shape icon in the table on the bottom of the sheet. Here it will tell you what part of your body you should emphasize to create the most stylish, and balanced look. I also gave you some suggestions on what type of clothes to wear and what to avoid. I really hope this was helpful, I am happy to answer any questions you may have!

If you need help reinventing your wardrobe, whether you want to find ways to re-purpose the clothes you already own or you want a whole new look, I can help you with that! I offer styling services at an affordable price for anyone interested - in person if you are in NYC & online if you are located anywhere else. E-mail me for more info contact@thefashionfreeway.com

DEVIL IN A RED DRESS.

Monday, October 19, 2015

So it's Monday, and as expected, I feel like a zombie. This weekend I celebrated my best friend's 21st birthday & it was definitely an epic weekend, but now I'm paying the price because I cannot keep my eyes open in class. Mondays should be like a universal recovery day where you don't have to go to school or work, don't you think?

I wanted to share one of my looks from this weekend with you guys. I'm obsessed with this red midi dress - it's classic, chic, sexy...it's just perfect. Pair it with a simple nude pump, your favorite clutch and pearl earrings for the perfect night out look. Finish the look by curling your hair to the side with a dramatic sweep over in the front and you've got the Marilyn Monroe aesthetic down to a T! Red is such a bold color, but it's not too trendy, meaning it's always been a consistent color in womenswear, especially evening wear, and it's always a great alternative to the 'Little Black Dress'.

Have a great week loves!

OVERSIZED & OBSESSED.

Wednesday, October 7, 2015

Happy Hump Day! I've been running around like a chicken with no head lately. This week is super busy for me because I just started interning at a styling company, I have three exams, and my best friend's 21st birthday is approaching, not to mention I try to have a little bit of a social life. I seriously don't know how I'd survive without my planner - I'm thinking about doing a post on how I stay organized soon so look out for that!

Today's look is one of my favorites! This top is a men's vintage Nautica button down from the 90s. I got it from Perennial Merchants - the dopest place for Vintage/90s clothes - seriously, you need to check them out! I think oversized button downs are my favorite piece of clothing to wear. Especially ones with vintage prints like this one. They embody my style perfectly - simple yet bold -  and they're super comfy. Not to mention, the chest pocket really comes in handy when I need to get my phone out of my hands quickly.

I kept it really simple with black skinnies and my chunky platforms and a beanie. You guys know how much I love wearing black and 90s pieces. I bought this crossbody bag in Florence, Italy. It's so cute and its 100% Italian leather...how could it get any better? Fall vibes are definitely in the air & I think my outfit definitely reflects that. I cant wait to show you guys more Fall looks!
