Bandeau // Skirt // Sandal Heels

Hey guys! Happy Monday, I hope you were all more productive than I was today. Whenever I have a crazy weekend, I tend to crash on Mondays and do absolutely nothing. & You know what? I'm perfectly fine with that. I think it's so important to give your mind and body a break sometimes, it definitely helps me reenergize and collect my thoughts and ideas and to come back with a clear head. This past weekend, I visited my former college SUNY Oneonta in Upstate NY for a big festival they have every Spring called OH Fest. It was a great time, getting to see old friends and be a college kid again for a weekend, but by Sunday I was so ready to come home and get back to regularly scheduled programming lol.

Onto the look. Here's the third Disney Princess Remix look I styled; Inspired by Princess Ariel from The Little Mermaid. On a regular day I would never pair these colors together, as you guys know I'm not a colorful person. But, I'd def wear this outfit in all black , white (Top // Skirt) or neutrals. However, this look was soon much fun to style! As stated in my previous Disney Princess Remix look, this was like a dream come true for me because I loved Disney Princesses when I was a little girl as many young girls do. You can use these looks as inspiration for Halloween costumes or for everyday looks. I really hope you guys enjoyed this little project. Let me know if you'd like to see more like this in the comments section below!

ALL BLACK AFFAIR.

GET THE LOOK
Bomber // Top // Disco Pants

When in doubt, ALL BLACK IS ALWAYS THE ANSWER! This shoot was really spontaneous, and I had no outfit picked out in advance, so I threw something together reaaaally quick. Anyone who knows me, knows that on the regular I'm usually wearing black. I try to vary and throw some color in here and there but black fits will always be my niche. I mean c'mon, it's a slimming color and so sleek and simple, who doesn't like to wear black? Studies actually show that any item that sells well in a color, will sell twice as well in black. It is literally the mother of all color and you can NEVER have too much black clothes.

As per usual, I mixed feminine pieces with more masculine/streetwear vibes. Black booties are a closet staple for me, they're so versatile. I was searching everywhere for a velvet choker and could not find one anywhere because they've become so popular recently, so I went to Michael's and bought velvet ribbon and made my own choker. I've been getting super crafty lately, I'll be sharing more about that with you guys soon!! But back to the look, the black bomber and baseball cap were unexpected additions that took this look from feminine to ME. lol.

Denim Jacket (Cut it myself) || Red Bralette (Similar & I really love this one)
Red Pants (similar styles here & here) || Pumps

Almost every little girl's dream is to grow up to be a Disney Princess. I know mine was..well when I wan't too busy playing football & manhunt with the boys. One of my favorite things to do was play dress-up. I'd put on my mom's makeup and clothes and walk around the house in her way-too-big-for-me heels. Pursuing a career in fashion styling is a lot like playing real life dress-up & saying I love it wouldn't even begin to cover it!

I collaborated with a photographer on this "Disney Princess Remix" project, in which I took inspiration from Princess Jasmine from the movie Aladdin. In the first look, I styled a wearable glam look inspired by Princess Jasmine's traditional turquoise outfit.  The look I styled is really simple and you can find similar pieces at many fast fashion stores such as Forever 21, American Apparel, H&M, etc. A cropped came and body con midi skirt are very form-fitting and sexy without being too much. Personally, I'm not crazy about how this combo looks on me, I prefer one piece to be looser whether it's my top or bottom. But, for this situation this look was perfect.

For the second look, I styled an edgy streetwear look inspired by Princess Jasmine's red prisoner outfit. Red is one of the most flattering colors for my skin tone, probably because I have red undertones. Mesh joggers and the denim jacket I cut myself were the focus of this look. I kept it simple with nude pumps and a red lace bralette.

These looks were so much fun to style & shoot! Inspiration is everywhere, even in Disney movies. So, if you're ever unsure of what to wear just take some inspiration from your favorite kids movie and have fun with it!

I have some more Disney Princess inspired looks to come, so stay tuned!

VELVET VIBEZ.

On Brittany:
Mesh Top (Similar styles here, here, herehere, and here

On Katelyn:
Top (Similar Style) || Crushed Velvet Skirt (Similar style) || Pumps

Velvet is definitely at the top of my list of favorite textures/fabrics. The texture adds such a beautiful luminosity to any color. Just look how rich that royal blue velvet skirt looks! Not only is velvet super pretty, but it's usually really comfortable and stretchy as well. Making it perfect for all body shapes and sizes. For this shoot, I styled myself and model friend, Katelyn Santana in coordinating outfits with the main focus being on our velvet midi skirts. Midi skirts have been my holy grail these past few months. I wear them EVERYWHERE! Literally. To class, to the club, to lunch, on dinner dates, etc. They can so easily be dressed up with a sassy cropped top (as seen on Katelyn) and pumps which help visually elongate the legs. Or they can be dressed down with tennis shoes (i.e. Adidas Superstars) for a casual day of classes or shopping. I love midi length skirts because they're not too short or long, which are two lengths that I find do NOT flatter my short legs.

*A rule of thumb to follow to keep your look from looking like you're doing too much is to BALANCE it out. For example, if you have a statement piece on the bottom i.e. these rich colored velvet skirts, keep it simple on top with a solid colored top (I prefer blacks, whites and greys.) Show a little skin on top since the majority of your legs are covered. Keep accessories to a minimum and let those hips sway girlllll!
