GOODBYE 2016: A TRIBUTE TO THE STRANGEST YEAR EVER

Saturday, December 31, 2016

24kt Golden coated rose my boyfriend gave to me for our anniversary/Christmas.

I think it goes without saying that 2016 was the strangest year. Ever. From all our personal struggles to the devastating events that happened throughout the world, we have surely been dealt a shitty hand this year. If 2016 taught me anything it is to be so utterly grateful for the moment I'm in and the loved ones I get to share every moment with. Way too many moments this year could have been the last I got to spend with my loved ones and so I have learned to never let an opportunity to tell someone I love them pass me by.

So as we champagne toast tonight let's cheers to all the blessings that 2016's unfortunate events have brought us.

Cheers to all the friends we lost. For now we have space for better ones.
Cheers to all the tears shed. For they have made us stronger.
Cheers to the heartbreak. For it has made us stronger.
Cheers to all the times we almost lost our minds. For they have made us wiser.
Cheers to all our losses. For they have made us appreciate what we have.
Cheers to all the nonsense going on in the world. For it has brought us together with a common goal to make a better future.

2016 was the year that broke me down to my smallest pieces, but it was also the year that built me back up - stronger than ever. This time last year I was at one of my lowest points. I was dealing with anxiety, panic attacks and depression. I am so proud to say that I have overcome it all and I am living a much healthier and happier life.

I cannot wait to see what 2017 has in store for us all. Better yet, what WE have in store for 2017.

Bless up!

WHAT TO WEAR FOR NYE FOR THE GLAM GIRL & THE SIMPLE GIRL

Are you one of those people who spent $100 to gain access to one of the city's NYE parties? Maybe you just want to be bougie for pics like me. So here is some bougielicious glam inspo for you to say "sayonara " to the weirdest year ever and welcome in what we all hope to be the best year ever. It's cliché, it's sparkly, it's furry, it's red lipstick predictable. But who cares? Take advantage of the moment and let our your inner superstar tonight with all the sparkle and fur and red lipstick you want. Add some Hollywood waves to your hair to seal the deal and you are ready to SLAYYYY.

But what if the whole glitter and glam thing isn't really your thing? Don't worry boo, I've got you covered too! Keep it simple with an all black ensemble and add the right touch of sparkle with velvet booties that have a little pizzazz. Glitter cat-eye sunnies are a perfect accessory as well. Add a pop of color with a red lip. Do it right without doing too much.

It sure has been one hell of a year! Stay posted for my next post.

GREENERY: HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE 2017 PANTONE COLOR OF THE YEAR

Wednesday, December 21, 2016

Every year as the new year approaches Pantone reveals the color of the year - which will then have a large influence on every aspect of our culture and lives - from textiles, interior design, accessories, foods etc. for the upcoming year. The color of 2016 was Rose Quartz & Serenity, which I'm sure you saw every time you turned your head. And I'm also sure you can't complain about that either, because who could not like these colors ?!

I can't quite say I'm excited about the color of the year for 2017: Greenery (as pictured above). I've never been a 'green girl' - with the exception of olive tones. However, I do love the significance of the color and I'm sure I will find fun ways to incorporate it into my lifestyle without having to actually wear it - because you all know I'm a neutral gal. Greenery represents new beginnings - freshness, liveliness, health and according to Pantone it is "emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality."

Below are the Top 10 Colors for Spring/Summer 2017.

What do you guys think about the color of the year? Let me know in the comments section below.

BLACK WINTER.

Monday, December 19, 2016

It's starting to feel a lot like winter here in NYC. This time last year we were in the midst of the warmest winter - ever. I don't know why the cold hits me harder every year, as if I haven't lived here my whole life. It's like I forget how cold it gets lmao. In all honesty, I hope to be in Cali next winter, because this is almost unbearable. All my ?fellow New Yorkers know what I'm talking about.

During the colder months I like to keep it super simple and focus on layering and silhouette. I have less time to get ready in the morning because everything seems to take longer in the winter: trains, buses, definitely walking. All black is a no brainer for me and it gives the opportunity to put an emphasis on a statement pieces like a belt or a cool hooded turtle neck too like I wore here. I have two moods - glitz & glam and then this - all black - which is my mood majority of the time. The key to staying chic in the Winter is definitely layering. Always wear a pair of tights under your pants, an under shirt - or two or three, and don't be afraid to wear hats and scarves and gloves. If you pair the right style and colors, these pieces can actually add to your look and make you look really fab - like Cruella DeVille fab. Speaking of Cruella, expect a fur coat center look coming soon!

What are your tips/tricks to staying warm and stylish during the colder seasons? Let me know in the comments section.

THE DEVIL'S IN THE DETAILS.

Tuesday, December 6, 2016

I'm baaaack! I'm so sorry for going M-I-A on you guys, but I was going through one of those horrible - what seems inevitable- phases of uninspired and lost moods that somehow end up making you come back stronger. So here I am!

I've come to terms with the fact that I have these few statement pieces that I like to rotate and reinvent. I'm pretty sure you guys can tell by looking at my outfit posts. Denim is a classic in my wardrobe and I love finding new ways to spice it up. Keeping it simple with black joggers and booties is a no brainer - less is more! Adding a red bandana for an unexpected pop of color has been a signature of mine since as long as I can remember. Try some fun placement like around your ankle, your upper arm, wrist, neck, head etc.

The most important style tip I can give anyone is to have fun with it! Take a simple look and throw an unexpected twist on it. Choose one statement piece and challenge yourself to build a look around it.
