ABOUT

The Basics: My full name is Brittany Jade Rendon and I live in New York City. I am currently studying to get my Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising and Computer Art at The State University of New York College at Oneonta as well as the Fashion Institute of Technology. Fashion has always played a large role in my life, serving as my only outlet for expression.
I grew up in a working-class family, raised by a single mother, so we never had the luxury of having finances for secondary needs. I started working at a young age to be able to buy myself the things I desired. This is when I developed a unique sense of style, since I had to learn to work with a small budget and repurpose my clothing as much as possible. I am a firm believer in the saying "It's not about brand, it's about style."

The Blog: I launched Fashion Freeway in March 2013 in hopes to inspire other young women with my own style. It began as a creative outlet for myself, allowing me to share my fashion sense as well as my love for graphic design, and of course, photographs! When I was younger, I'd constantly get made fun of for dressing different than all the other kids. My own family and friends would make negative comments (they still do.) But, I have come to learn that being different is not a bad thing, and that is what I love most about myself. Style is personal and it should be different for everyone. This is where the term "Freeway" comes from. I believe that everyone should be free-minded and do what makes them happy regardless of any other factors.
Fashion is important to me because it grants me the freedom to express myself in a creative way.  Not only can your style portray your attitude, but a nice outfit can make you feel 1000x more confident. And who wouldn't want to feel more confident about themselves? I have seen how much my confidence has inspired others and I can truly say there is no better feeling. Most importantly, fashion is fun and exciting! I love the fact that I can wake up each day and create a totally different get-up than the day before.
As you can see in my blog, I don't care much about name brands. I try to show others that it is possible to be fashionable while shopping on a budget. I also don't like to categorize my style, another freedom that comes along with fashion. You will see a wide variety of looks on my blog. Variety is an important part of style, so have a little fun because everyone knows that boring never gets the gold!
Blogging has been such a humbling and rewarding experience thus far. It has enabled me to connect with people all over the world and share my own style and love for fashion. My main goal with my blog is to inspire others to be proud of who they are, and express it in a fashionable way. I am beyond excited to see what the future has in store for me and my blog.

Thanks so much for your support! (:
